Tips and Tricks - Refacing or Replacing an Existing Sign

Let's Start A Conversation:

11/10/2021

Sometimes an old sign just needs a new face and sometimes an old sign just needs to get replaced. How do you decide which option is best for you?

Sunlight and weather can take a toll on your sign and businesses re-brand and need to outfit their location with updated logos and graphics. Image360 Kansas City can take an existing sign and apply new panels or new letters. This can help save on the cost of replacing a sign completely as well as being a more environmentally friendly option for your business – your sign can be used again and again in most cases and if sign permitting is a challenge, refacing the existing sign can help save on time and money.

One thing to keep in mind when considering refacing an existing sign. Any damage on the existing sign frame would still be visible once new panels or letters are installed. Paint chips or cracks under vinyl will show through if new vinyl is applied over it. If the sign’s foundation is deteriorating, it is a good idea to replace the old sign with a new one.

Check out a recent sign reface project we completed for an army reserve center in the Kansas City metro area. Our team adhered new panels and letters into the existing monument sign structure giving it a proper update as well as making good use of a monument sign foundation that will last for years to come.
